The Hamilton County Human Resources Department, a division under the Board of County Commissioners, provides a wide variety of services to all county departments. The County workforce totals approximately 6000 employees who work in 40 different departments. Human Resources is directly responsible for the state civil service reporting requirements for 35 of those departments (which includes some 5800 employees among the 6,000). Human Resources also administers the group insurance benefits for all county employees. For the departments under the Board of County Commissioners, Human Resources is responsible for employee relations and human resource training and development. In addition, Human Resources negotiates and administers 10 collective bargaining agreements for 5 county departments.
