Classification / Compensation

Hamilton County has over 800 classifications of jobs in the Board of County Commissioners' Classification and Compensation Plan. All departments under the authority of the Board participate in the Plan. The remaining county departments have the option of participating in both facets of the Plan, or participating in the Classification Plan only without participating in the Compensation Plan.

What is a Classification Specification?  
A general description for a group of similar positions that includes the minimum qualifications and job duties performed.

This site includes links for viewing all Classification Specifications alphabetically, numerically or by category (excluding those in a Bargaining Unit). If a pay grade has been assigned to a classification, it will be noted on the full copy of the class spec along with the actual hourly rate. A link is also provided to the County Commissioners' pay schedule. If you would like more information regarding the Bargaining Unit classifications, please contact our staff.

The Compensation and Benefits Division of the Human Resources Department maintains the county-wide Plan for the Board of County Commissioners. Please feel free to contact us if we can assist you.
