From economic development and zoning, to health care, to taxes, many important decisions across the County are made by citizens and volunteers who serve on committees and commissions on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.
To fill a number of vacancies, the Commissioners are asking interested citizens to send in applications to take on some of these important leadership roles.
This committee evaluates and reports to the County Commissioners on petitions for tax levies to be placed on the ballot. It serves as an independent review of all tax levy requests by having individuals from outside the system participate in the process. The Committee is intended to serve as a vehicle to challenge agencies who spend tax money to be creative, innovative and to provide the best and most cost effective services possible.
This Board oversees the management and operation of the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Port Development Authority, the purpose of which is to spark new development opportunities throughout Hamilton County; to redevelop Brownfields; and to potentially serve as a county and community Land Bank, capable of turning abandoned, vacant and tax delinquent properties and converting them in conjunction with local jurisdictions into productive lands through bond financing and other strategic investments.
Hamilton County Commissioners are looking for volunteers to serve on the restructured board of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, which operates the region's public fixed route bus system. Recently, the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County agreed to restructure the board to make it more regional in governance, and service. This means there are three new seats - for the first time representing each of the surrounding Ohio counties, Butler, Warren and Clermont.
Citizens who live in those counties are welcome to submit applications to join the board, as well as a cover letter expressing their interest, and any references they may wish to list.
To apply for the above boards, please log onto http://www.hamiltoncountyohio.gov/boards_commissions/forms/application.asp and complete the application.
