Purpose:Evaluate
and suggest reforms to the County's current health care
financing practices (specifically focusing on the two
special tax levies commonly referred to as the Indigent Care
Levy and the Drake Levy) to assure continued quality care
while reducing the tax burden on Hamilton County residents.
Establishing Authority:A Motion
adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Hamilton
County, Ohio, on April 6, 2005, Volume 298, Image 124.
Composition:Membership of the HCRC will
primarily consist of individuals with a working knowledge of
the current health care system in our region. Members will
also be chosen for specific skill sets that will aid the
commission in its work. The Commissioners will ensure that
appointees to the HCRC do not have a conflict of interest
that could be perceived as an impediment to the objective
completion of the HCRC's mission (specifically,
representatives from entities which receive county funding
from the Indigent Care Levy or the Drake Levy will not be
appointed to the commission). The membership of the HCRC is
subject to change / grow as expertise is needed. The
Commissioners will hire a consultant and provide staff
support to aid the commission in its work.
