The functions of the Hamilton County Emergency Agency in its implementation of its Fernald Emergency Response Program are:

  • Coordinate with the US Department of Energy, the State of Ohio Emergency Management Agency, Butler County Emergency Management Agency, local jurisdictions and response departments to insure coordinated, effective response to hazardous materials emergencies at the DOE's facility at Fernald in Crosby Township, Ohio.
  • Coordinate quarterly meetings with appropriate city, township and county departments who have assigned planning and response functions in the Fernald Emergency Response Plan.
  • Coordinate radiological monitoring and response training for local responders in the event of transportation accidents involving radioactive waste shipments leaving the facility.
