Her experience before coming to Hamilton County included private architectural practice in Ohio and New York City, corporate facilities management at Citibank, N.A., and government experience in urban design and planning with the City of New York in the South Bronx, Department of City Planning. She graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York with a Bachelor of Architecture, and was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi Medal for service.
In 2001, she was the President of Southwest Ohio Building Officials Association (SWOBOA), a member of the International Code Council, the Ohio Building Officials Association, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. She was awarded and commendation from exemplary achievement in 2002 from the Ohio House of Representatives, 124th General Assembly.
In January, 2002, Tonia was awarded the Harvey E. Wilbekin Ohio Building Official of the Year by the Ohio Building Officials Association (OBOA).
AwardsHamilton County Building Commissioner since 1993, Ms. Edwards was recognized for her leadership, professionalism, and dedication to public service. Recently she served as president of the Southwest Ohio Building Officials Association, a chapter that encompasses five counties.
