About the Directory
Today, the world and our communities change when networks of relationships form among people and organizations who share a common cause and vision of what's possible. The Hamilton County Community Action Network Directory--a new online inventory of organizations and programs improving our community--is being developed to foster these critical connections and networks in Hamilton County. The Directory is an initiative of Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Leadership Cincinnati USA.
Only through such existing and emerging relationships, will we be able to develop the new knowledge, practices, courage and commitment that lead to sustainable and systemic community change and solutions to our community’s most intractable issues. By connecting separate local efforts with each other as networks, new systems of influence will emerge possessing greater potential for community improvement than is possible through incremental change strategies. The emerging Hamilton County Community Action Network (HCCAN) Directory serves as a clearinghouse for people finding like-minded others, the first step in the emergence of networks for community action.
This directory and data base is being designed to be significantly different than any directory that already exists for topic areas such as social services and environment. A unique design is evolving from the following project goals:
The continuously emerging HCCAN Directory will provide an essential tool for continued implementation of the vision and goals adopted in Community COMPASS (Hamilton County’s comprehensive plan), which identifies the dreams, the challenges, and the opportunities facing our county, our local governments, our civic and private sector organizations, and our citizens.
