The purpose of adopted land use plans is to guide future development as part of a continuous planning process. Adopted land use plans are advisory documents that facilitate balanced and comprehensive review of incremental zoning amendments and development decisions. Land use plan recommendations are generally created at the local (township) level and adopted by the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) after approval by the Township Trustees. Adoption of the recommendations requires RPC to maintain consistency with the plan when making advisory recommendations on zone amendments or other development issues.

The Regional Planning Commission has adopted land use plans for all or portions of the following townships: Anderson Township, Colerain Township, Columbia Township, Green Township, Harrison Township, Miami Township, Springfield Township, Sycamore Township, and Symmes Township. The land use plan maps for these townships can be viewed on the Map Shop page. The text for each land use plan document is available for public review at the Regional Planning Commission office in Room 807 of the County Administration Building.
