“Hamilton County’s Regional Planning Commission (RPC) and it’s
Planning Partnership (an alliance of 49 planning commissions) has
carried community planning to a new level of importance and
effectiveness through continuous planning innovations. This
planning effort has made a major difference in Cincinnati by
bringing together both officials and ordinary citizens to debate
and begin resolution of the area’s planning issues. The entire
process has been so well thought through and carried out that it
is a model of participatory planning at the urban scale.”
--Dr. David J. Edelman, Professor and Director, UC School of
Planning
“Your expertise in solving our
problems was very helpful. Thanks for all your help.”
I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with what a
great job everyone did on the Countywide Town Meeting. I was a
facilitator, and both the facilitator training and the event
itself was practically flawless. Of course there were a few
glitches, but they were handled well, and quickly. Everyone’s
enthusiasm was tremendous, which contributed to the overwhelming
success of the event. Kudos to you and your very competent staff!”
--Susan Walsh, Hamilton County Community Development

Again, respectfully, my gratitude.”
--Opie Hoffman
“I wanted to thank you for the report [Inventory of Shared Public Service Delivery]. It will be very helpful for me because many people have been asking me what other cities do for their services. Thanks for the information.”
--Peggy Brickweg (St. Bernard City Council)
“I must say that I've never gotten that professional of a report before for something like this [Evaluting Big Box Retail Developments]. I hope it helps you to help other communities, too. ”
--Dan Johnson (City of Blue Ash Planning Director)
“Thanks for everything - but mostly for your prompt reply and continued follow-up. Not everyone cares enough anymore to even address complaints, let alone stick with them until they are resolved. Well done!”
--Sue Singleton
“I am on a reseach mission...after six unsuccessful phone calls to various individuals within the county I made my last attempt and I contacted [RPC staff]. [You] heard my frustration and took the initiative in reseaching the information that no one else could or would locate.”

"This
organization … is a tremendous asset in the permit process. If you
can't locate the jurisdiction, they will and supply the phone
number to contact them. They will help you retrieve a plot plan,
revise any drawings needed for the permit process and always with
courtesy and respect."
-- Anonymous (secret shopper)
“As Festival Chairperson for the first
time, you can imagine my anguish when I learned that zoning
certificates and building permits are now required for the tents
at our festival. I was not looking forward to visiting your office
today, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at the
reception and treatment I received. I would like to commend your
[staff] for ‘going the extra mile’ to assist me in completing our
application. I feel that our festival will be safer and fully
compliant after their review and changes, and the process was not
nearly the painful process I had anticipated.”
--Mark Miller, VISI Fest
“During a recent visit to the Loveland, Ohio City Building I was
fortunate to pick up a copy of your extremely informative
publication, Update. I very much enjoyed reading through its pages
and gained much knowledge about the areas in which I live and
work.”
--Charles D. Back, Coldwell Banker West Shell
“I deal with many townships and county
handling permits for signage and most of them are different. It’s
so nice to be able to deal with a zoning department that treats
you like a human being, with respect and can answer your questions
without total confusion.”
--Anonymous
“I was made to feel welcome. I was treated with respect. I was
informed not just talked to. Good experience!”
--Anonymous
“I must admit my expectations were quite low in the type of
service I would receive from Hamilton County. I expected to
encounter lots of red tape and bureaucracy and thought I’d be
transferred from one department to another. This was not the case
at all!!! I now have a great deal of respect for Hamilton County
Administration and their knowledgeable, professional personnel.”
--Cindy Catucci
“[RPC staff] helped me with a dispute with the US Post Office. The
Post Office misidentified our street as “Road” rather than “Drive”
causing addressing mistakes that companies (like banks, utilities,
department stores, and countless others) have been unable to fix
because they are tied into the US Post Office’s database. It has
been problem after problem while the Post Office continued to say
the County made the mistake even though [RPC staff] proved they
did not. Finally, the Post Office admitted their error and because
of [your] persistence we stand to get the problem resolved.”
--Michael Burns
“I wanted to tell you thank you for all your help. We really
appreciate it. We wish that everyone we had to deal with in life
would be like you."
--Billie Jo Harris
“Superlatives! Uncanny bullseye! Which is to say, thanks for
bringing the copy requested to the Tuesday event at NURFC, and
congratulations on a monumental accomplishment not only in terms
of scope, but especially in terms of the state of the art. You and
your staff have opened a door to a far more meaningful future for
more people in the County than any Master Plan before you. Thanks
to all of you.”
--Brandon Wiers
“You have brought a sensible, professional and very comprehensive
approach to a very elusive topic. I’m sure you felt exhausted many
times and yet you hung in there to the end. Tenacity is another of
your many traits.”
--Jim Peterman
“These projects were monumental and everlasting!!!”
--Kevin Costello
“Congratulations on an enormous success!...I was impressed with
the process and the focus. You even accomplished lunch in the best
fashion I’ve seen addressed for groups a 20th of what you had
assembled! Keep it up, thanks for doing it.”
--Lyn Marsteller, CFRE, Marsteller & Associates Fundraising
Coaching

“This [Inventory of Shared Public Service Delivery] is an impressive piece of work. We hear so much rhetoric about regionalism that it is good to see the actual reality. It may be a patchwork quilt, but this shows there are more regional approaches than most people think.”
--Greg Dale (McBride, Dale, Clarion)
“Thank you so much for your involvement with this year’s OSU-TUD exchange program. I appreciate the time and effort you put into coordinating the presentation for the group.
