The 2008 Planning Commissioners’ Forum took place on January 26 at the Drake Conference Center.
Commissioners from Amberley Village, Cincinnati, Deer Park, Golf Manor, Lincoln Heights, Madeira, Montgomery, Reading, Sharonville, Springdale, Wyoming and the townships of Anderson, Colerain, and Green had the opportunity to establish face to face contact with their peers, learn of development issues and solutions implemented at the local level, and learn of resources available to them in the County.
Keynote speaker was Tony Parrott, Executive Director of MSD, who made a presentation on Green Infrastructure for Stormwater Management. The presentation sparked a substantial question and answer session, since the implementation of green infrastructure is still a relatively new concept for many.
Other topics of conversation were: how to manage the unexpected consequences of [land use/zoning] landscape requirements, planning commissioners’ stress and what to do about it, what or how did you do to implement your community plan, and what are the opportunities or challenges that exist in your community in the use of green infrastructure to manage stormwater.
The Organizing Committee will meet in early November to strategize the 2009 Forum. If you want to become involved in organizing this event contact catalina.landivar@hamilton-co.org
