Why should I join?

Critical trends in Hamilton County are evident: population loss, vacant housing, and land developing regionally at a rate five times faster than population growth. Racial segregation and social separation in our region's elementary schools and fiscal inequality among our political jurisdictions are greater than all but one of the twenty-five largest metropolitan areas in this country. Only by working together we can develop strategies that will reverse negative trends and increase competitiveness of the county in the world economy.

The Planning Partnership provides a forum for discussion of issues that affect our members. Membership of the HCRPC and the Planning Partnership continues to grow. Jurisdiction members now account for 80% of the county's population and about 90% of the county area.

Due to the proactive approach of this organization, the Partnership has:

• Launched the Certified Planning Commissioners' Program
• Convened the Hamilton County Caucus of OKI Representatives
• Convened the First Suburbs Consortium of Southwest Ohio
• Organized the Property Maintenance Program
• Organized the Housing Forum
• Organized the Planning Commissioners' Forum
• Provided technical assistance to jurisdictions in the County through the Program "Project Impact"
• Coordinated the countywide comprehensive plan
• Prepared the Community COMPASS State of the County reports
• Compiled the Community Revitalization Tools Resource Book
• Researched industry clusters trends in the region and offered workshops to assist Hamilton County communities promote their strengths in specific industry clusters
• Developed the Stormwater Management Education Program which helped meet education/outreach requirements of the Ohio EPA NPDES Phase II Permit
• Developed the Stormwater Management Zoning Code Project which looks at alternatives to reducing the amount of stormwater run off by providing guidelines in the zoning code
• Hosted Introductory Workshops for Newly Elected Officials
• Formed a partnership with the University of Cincinnati School of Planning to research first suburbs
• Produced UPDATE The Planning Partnership Newsletter an award winning quarterly newsletter for planning and zoning commissioners
• Developed a Planning Partnership website
• Received numerous national and international awards for the most outstanding community planning in Ohio and in the United States
