Mission / Purpose
- Identify and raise awareness of the value of greenspaceI to residents, business, government, and industry – especially the economic benefits, economic development opportunities, and ecological importance of a protected network of greenwaysII and greenbeltsIII within and between all jurisdictions.
- Communicate, and build consensus* on, criteria for selecting greenways and greenbelts to be protected.
- Communicate, and build consensus* on, a desired network of greenways and greenbelts and priorities for protection.
- Identify and promote greenprintIIII protection options (voluntary and regulatory).
- Engage and support local jurisdictions in planning and preserving an adopted greenprint in their communities.
- Foster implementation partnerships to achieve an adopted greenprint (network of greenways and greenbelts).
- Evaluate, and report on, progress of greenprint implementation by monitoring key indicators of success. (see Key Indicators of Success listed in Part 2: Desired Results)
- Prepare a strategic plan and related action plans for improving key indicators of success**.
- Identify appropriate indicators to track the balance between development and the environment (in collaboration with Sustainable Cincinnati).
*Note:
Consensus will be needed with communities/public, elected officials, planning commissions, park boards, conservation and environment groups, and other public, private and civic sector organizations.
