Cheviot Tackles Property

When the citizens of Cheviot heard that
Hamilton County RPC was offering technical
assistance through Project Impact, they were quick
to grab the opportunity. They already had a jump
start with projects they initiated such as a new
property maintenance code, the hiring of a
full-time proactive building inspector, and
creating a housing court.

Elmwood Place Means Business
|

Elmwood Place is working with the Hamilton
County Regional Planning Commission to craft a
redevelopment plan that will enable the Village to
strategically search for and allocate resources.

Golf Manor Seeks Assistance
to Redevelop Commercial Center |
|
|
Conceptual site planning for redevelopment of
the Village's commercial center is one key
strategy being developed through Golf Manor's
participation in Project Impact. By illustrating
what is possible to build on several underused
commercial properties, the Project Impact Steering
Committee hopes to attract new development and
investment to the community. Other strategies
include a business owner survey, assessment of the
Village's development regulations and
administration, and various marketing ideas.

Lincoln Heights Bets on Youth

Lincoln Heights applied for a Project Impact
Program offered by the Hamilton County Regional
Planning Commission (RPC). Since the summer of
2006, the Village has met with staff to identify
resources, priorities, and implementation
strategies.

HCDC: The Urban Land
Assistance Program |

|
The Urban Land Assistance Program (ULAP) is a
brownfield redevelopment initiative administered
by the Hamilton County Development Company (HCDC).
The program provides financial support to local
communities in Hamilton County to assess
environmental conditions on industrial and
commercial sites with redevelopment potential.

If Northside's proposal for a green
demonstration project is chosen as a LEED-ND Pilot
Project (Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design for Neighborhood Development), it will be
among the first community development projects
worldwide recognized with that certification.

Crosby Township Anticipates
Development and Revises Zoning |
|
|
Crosby Township, a community of 2,700 people
and 20 square miles, is located in the
northwestern part of Hamilton County. Crosby
Township achieved national notoriety due to its
Fernald Plant, a nuclear facility with numerous
environmental problems. Today the Fernald Plant is
a national example of how community organizing
contributed to successful environmental clean up
of the superfund site.

Homeowners Preservation Group
Lobbies for Emergency Funds |
|
|
Successfully lobbying Cincinnati and Hamilton
County leaders for emergency mortgage assistance
funds is the biggest achievement of the Homeowners
Preservation Group (HPG) to date. In the face of
tight public budgets and difficult choices for
elected officials, funding for this critical
community service has been maintained.
