Most BMPs will require some sort of on-going maintenance.  Some are more labor intensive than others.
	Sand filters may need cleaning on an annual basis whereas vegetated parking lot islands require almost no maintenance – other than taking care of the plants!
	Detention ponds will eventually fill with sediment and must be periodically drained and cleaned out.
