The Cincinnati Section of the Ohio Planning Conference (OPC) in partnership with the Clermont County Department of Community Planning & Development and local universities will conduct a Community Planning Charrette on November 7, 2008 in the Village of New Richmond.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate World Town Planning Day and to promote planning in a local community. The charrette is an annual event where local planners, architects, economic development experts, realtors, and local college students come together for a day to work with and offer professional advice to a local city, village or neighborhood in hope that the ideas generated from the charrette will be used for future planning and community improvement endeavors.

Charrette participants will be assigned to working groups based on professional skill, knowledge and area of interest with the goal of having multi-disciplinary teams. The event is intended to encourage thinking “outside the box” and creativity while balancing suggestions with sound planning principles. At the end of the day, ideas generated by each working group will be presented to community leaders.

Although the event begins with a quick tour of the community by foot and/or car, participants are encouraged to prepare in advance by reviewing data, maps, history, photographs, etc. made available on this web site.
