What to Bring

Initiatives

1.)  Front Street Business District:

The historic Front Street Business District, serving as New Richmond’s core business district, lies directly along the Ohio River. This four block district contains many opportunities for residential and commercial investment and redevelopment. Local efforts have lead to improved occupancy rates, but economic sustainability and reinvestment remain challenges. This initiative will focus on strategies to encourage further investment by improving the image of the district, enhance navigation to and within the district, and stimulate foot traffic.

2. )  Riverfront Development:

New Richmond’s riverfront includes a marina and several other convenient boating related services. This initiative will focus on developing options to encourage the full use of the resources the Village of New Richmond has to offer the boating community. In addition, this initiative will identify strategies to encourage boaters to explore the many amenities the Village has to offer, specifically along the Front Street Business District.

3.)  Festival Park:

Festival Park is privately owned piece of land situated along the Ohio River near the edge of the Front Street Business District. Most recently, the land has been underutilized outside of a few special events. This initiative will focus on methods to encourage suitable development options at this strategic and vital location within the Village.

4.)  Mediation Sites:

New Richmond contains numerous parcels within the Ohio River floodplain that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) deems un-buildable for insurable structures. Therefore, physical construction of housing or commercial buildings is not possible without significant risk. This initiative will focus on taking advantage of these parcels by encouraging community reinvestment through the development of landscaped open space, parks and recreation.
