Hamilton County offers medical and dental insurance for eligible employees. Four different medical plan options are available through Humana®. and two dental plans through Dental Care Plus.
Working Spouse Provision: On January 1, 2010 the $10 surcharge will increase to $35 per pay period for spouses who have the option of medical coverage with another employer but elect to receive county medical insurance. All employees must complete the Working Spouse Provision form when hired and when there is a change in family status.
No Coverage Option – Employees may decline medical and/or dental coverage. However, if medical coverage is declined, proof of other medical coverage must be provided. And, if medical coverage is declined, employees still receive a vision discount through EyeMed Vision Care.
An eligible employee is a permanent, full-time employee, or one who is regularly scheduled in active pay status at least 30 hours per week. Temporary, intermittent, part-time (less than 30 hours per week), and seasonal employees are not eligible for group health insurance coverage regardless of the number of hours worked.
There is a 90 day waiting period. Medical and dental coverage will become effective on the first day of the month following 90 days of continuous county service.
