Hamilton County provides life insurance at no cost to eligible employees in the amount of their annual salary (up to the policy maximum of $300,000). This insurance is provided through Dearborn National. This coverage decreases to 65% of an employee’s salary on an employee’s 65th birthday, and to 50% on an employee’s 70th birthday. Employees are enrolled at the time of hire and may make changes to beneficiaries at any time.
Hamilton County also provides employees the opportunity to purchase additional life insurance coverage through The Hartford. Employees may enroll when newly hired and during open enrollment. Once enrolled, changes in levels of coverage can only be made when a family status change occurs or during open enrollment (held in November each year). Changes in beneficiaries can be made anytime during the year.
