How can I find out what positions are open with the County?

Hamilton County does not have a central location where all county jobs are posted. The Human Resources Department advertises for many of the County departments (click here to see a list of those departments). There are also some departments that advertise their own job openings and only take applications at their offices.

Where can I apply for a job with the County?

For job openings advertised by Human Resources:

• Check the the Job Posting announcement for the location accepting the applications.
   
• Visit the Hamilton County Human Resources Department at the County Administration Building, 138 E. Court Street, Room 707.
   
• Apply using the on-line application or print out the PDF of the application, complete it and mail or fax it to the appropriate office.

For job openings NOT advertised with Human Resources, you must follow the instructions given by each individual department.

What happens to my application after I apply for a job through Human Resources?

Copies of all qualified applications are sent to the department which has the job opening and interviews are set up by them.

If I have already applied for a job through the Human Resources Department, do I have to re-apply for other postings of interest?

Yes. A separate application and/or resume is required for each position you apply for.

Will I receive a response when I apply for a job?

Yes. At the close of the posting period, everyone who applied will receive an e-mail or postcard. If you applied on-line, the confirmation message you received upon successful submission is your response. Human Resources does not send any other correspondence. You are welcome to call our office at (513) 946-4700 to check the status of the vacant position.

Do I have to live in Hamilton County? (Residency Requirements?)

There are no residency requirements for employees who work for departments under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners. HOWEVER, other elected officials, boards and appointing authorities in Hamilton County may have different residency requirements. The Job Posting notice will usually include any residency requirements for the open position.
