| Under direction, instructs MR/DD students in Early Childhood Program; assesses students and develops short and long range goals for development; prepares daily lesson plans to address student learning need; assists students with daily living skills. |

| Minimum Qualifications: |
| State of Ohio teaching certificate, MH or MSPR validated for EECH, early education of handicapped children, ages 3-5. |

| Illustrative Duties: |
| 50% (1) Instructs or assists mentally retarded/developmentally disabled students in development of cognitive, socialization, communication, fine and gross motor, self-help and recreational skills; assists students individually or in groups in working toward established goals; prepares teaching materials or aid to assist in student learning; sets up and operates audio visual equipment to aid in instructing; assists students in basic living skills (e.g., personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, socialization, dressing); supervises parent’s class participation. 15% (2) Assesses student using appropriate assessment techniques in various program areas; gathers information and reports from parents, professionals and students and writes Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students (e.g., long range goals) based on student assessment; develops Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) and criteria for each student in all areas of development; documents activities performed and progress toward IEP and IHP objectives; completes scheduled updates on IEP and IHP. 15% (3) Prepares and records daily lesson plans to address student needs; orders materials as needed for instruction; records data on daily activities, behavior programs, toileting schedules and feeding programs for evaluation of students and revision of programs records attendance, seizure activities, toileting activities and behavior problems of students; maintains substitute book.10% (4) Maintains contact with parents, case workers, other family members, doctors, etc., regarding student status and progress; meets with parents (at home and at school) and other school personnel to develop IEP or to discuss specific problems; writes communications to parents regarding student activities.5%(5) Supervises instructor assistant; instructs and evaluates instructor assistant; works with instructor assistant to solve student behavior problems or achieve goals.5% (6) Attends meetings, workshops, etc.; serves on various school committees. |
