Hamilton County received a total of $24.9 million for the Banks Riverfront Development. This funding will assist in Phase II of the project and specifically be used to complete a portion of the inter-modal transit center and street west of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
To assist in reopening tax exempt credit markets, the Federal Government developed the Build America Bonds to broaden the market for tax exempt financing of public improvements. Specifically, the Build America Bonds allows public entities to issue taxable bonds with a 35% tax credit. Depending on the term of the financing this tax credit could provide a savings to public entities as well as encouraging additional investment in the tax exempt market. Hamilton County has issued Build America Bonds for the Banks Riverfront Development and is considering the bonds for the Metropolitan Sewer District.
Improve the pavement condition of Interstate 75 from south of SR 126 to south of the Lockland corporation. Project includes several minor bridge rehabilitations.
These bonds allow for tax exempt financing of private facility improvements and expansions. Hamilton County has developed criteria for applying for these bonds that include the potential for sales tax growth and job creation and retention. The bond program is being managed for the County by the Hamilton County Development Company.
