Celebrate National Public Service Recognition Week!

Welcome to the County Administrator’s blog page!

I have wanted to start this page for a while now in order to provide the public with a bit more information on some of the work going on within the County that might escape the daily headlines.  County government is involved in so many different areas of our community that sometimes it becomes difficult to track.  But the fact is, there are over 4,000 Hamilton County employees who have dedicated their careers and talents to making our community a better place to live, work and play. Within this blog I am going to do my best to ensure that you will regularly learn something informative about something going on within County government that is working well and which addresses a basic community need or goal.  Whether its focusing on a departmental program or the efforts of an individual employee – there is a lot to report – and a lot to be proud of.

So during this, 2017 Public Service Recognition Week, I thought it would be a good time to thank those individuals who dedicate themselves to the cause of local government.  Employees in County government work every single day to:

  • Run our court system to ensure justice is meted out fairly in the community.

  • Represent the needs of some of our community’s most vulnerable citizens be it children, the elderly or homeless.

  • Keep our election system operating efficiently to ensure our basic system of democracy is upheld locally.

  • Patrol our streets and operate our jail to keep the community safe.

  • Make sure that commercial and residential construction performed in the County is performed safely.

  • Keep our environment clean by protecting our air, water and land resources.

  • Protect and steward our community’s tax dollars and vital records associated with residents and private property.

  • Promote public health and safety in the community.

And, really, this is the tip of the proverbial iceberg.  So, if you are a public employee (with the County or at any other level of government) – thank you for your service!  If you know someone in the field of public service and local government, please take the time to thank them for their service – it will be appreciated!
