East Palestine Train Derailment Information

On the evening of February 3, 2023 a train derailment occurred in East Palestine, OH. Due to the derailment, low levels of butyl acrylate, a chemical used to produce plastics and resins, reached the Ohio River through a small creek. Greater Cincinnati Water Works, in coordination with the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), have been closely monitoring the water quality of the Ohio River and taking water samples to ensure its safety.
