Floodplain Management

Flooding is one of the largest natural disaster threats to Ohio. Local and state floodplain management programs reduce future flood damages and protect the natural benefits of the floodplain.

Hamilton County is a participating community of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The NFIP, managed by FEMA, provides flood insurance to property owners, renters, and businesses. Regulations, containing the minimum federal standards of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), are adopted and enforced by Hamilton County to protect lives and property from the peril of flooding.

Planning + Development - Floodplain Management examines and reviews construction documents for compliance with the Hamilton County Flood Damage Prevention Regulations for the unincorporated areas (townships) of Hamilton County. We conduct field investigations and respond to inquiries regarding flood plain management codes.

For areas outside of the unincorporated portions of the county, please reference the Floodplain Community Contact List found here: Floodplain Community Contact List
