Land Bank

Learn about Hamilton County's Landbank

Between 1999 and 2010, Hamilton County foreclosure filings increased 168% from 2,447 to 6,556. Each of these foreclosures could be an abandoned home or vacant building dragging down property values, eroding community pride, and driving people and investment from the neighborhoods where they are located.

Doing something about vacant and abandoned properties used to be very difficult for communities. In 2010, the Ohio General Assembly passed HB 313 that allows Hamilton County to form a county land reutilization corporation ("landbank"). A landbank is a focused, purposeful program to help communities and clean up abandoned properties.
